Free To Be, Inc.

Free To Be, Inc. helps residents in Anoka County Minnesota, age 21 or older, who are Welfare to Work, Immigrants, Unemployed, Under Employed, Disabled or Senior Citizens, by providing assistance with Car Repair, Car Donations, Vehicle maintenance, Resource management and Basic Budgeting for Diverse Populations. The Free2B! Car Care Program includes components of repair, replacement or provides initial transportation for individuals in need. Free2B! does not offer financial loans for either repairs or purchase. Repairs are done by Free2B! volunteers.

Car Repair. Free2B! repairs cars twice a month during Car Care Saturday. Free2B! repairs cars for needy individuals using primarily volunteers. Free2B! provides up to $300 in repair parts to eligible individuals in Anoka County. Financial support for the parts is provided by foundations, Faith Communities, businesses, individuals and service clubs. Parts and labor are provided at greatly reduced prices through arrangements with several repair shops and parts suppliers. For more information please contact Free2B! Car Donation. Free2B! receives donated vehicles, repairs them, and donates them to people in need in Anoka County. Cars can be donated by the general public. Free2B! is a non-profit 501c3 organization and donations are tax deductible. Free2B! will do minor repairs if needed. Cars will be donated to qualified Anoka County residents on a priority basis to the identified target populations. If the car will cost too much to repair Free2B! will sell the vehicle and use the money for Car Repair. Education Programming. Free2B! provides basic budget training so the recipients of donated cars or car repairs can eventually plan for and pay their own repair bills and purchase cars when needed. As a requirement for getting cars repaired during "Car Care Saturday", recipients must attend a one-hour Basic Budgeting Seminar and a one-hour Car Maintenance Seminar during the time their cars are being repaired. A requirement for receiving a donated car the applicant must first take a 1 ½ hour class called Dollars Into $ense. This is a class on the basics of developing a spending/saving plan that works.
